A survey of major periods and events in the history of the book, emphasizing the history of print culture. Topics include writing and writing systems, scribal culture, the print revolution, the growth of literacy, and the digital revolution; readers, writers, publishers, and booksellers; and the future of the book. ***Prerequisite: One 100-level HIST course or completion of 15 credit hours.***
